A Poem

Love's Deity

I long to talk with some old lover's ghost,
Who died before the god of love was born.
I cannot think that he, who then loved most,
Sunk so low as to love one which did scorn.
But since this god produced a destiny,
And that vice-nature, custom, lets it be,
I must love her that loves not me.

Sure, they which made him god, meant not so much,
Nor he in his young godhead practised it.
But when an even flame two hearts did touch,
His office was indulgently to fit
Actives to passives. Correspondency
Only his subject was ; it cannot be
Love, till I love her, who loves me.

But every modern god will now extend
His vast prerogative as far as Jove.
To rage, to lust, to write to, to commend,

Rebel and atheist too, why murmur I,

This is a poem by John Donne that I had to analyze for my literature class. It is about a man who has fallen in love with a woman who will never love him, so he curses Cupid for failing to do his job and making the woman love him. But as the poem progresses he comes to the realization that his perspective of the situation is much smaller than Cupid. This poem is about divine perspective versus earthly perspective. Basically the point of this poem is that what may seem as something bad to us, is just part of a whole bigger plan that God has for us. There are many people in the world who are going through some difficult times and feel as though God has abandoned them. But in hard situations one should remain faithful because hard times are always accompanied by good times as well. God has a plan for everyone and it will involve difficult times but in the end we will receive happiness.

Karen New Year

Happy Karen New Year!!!

On January 5th, 2007. The Karen youth group gathered in Daly city. Some youth were from Arizona, Daly City, San Francisco,Oakland, San Jose, etc. There was many ethnic groups that came and joined us during the Karen New year. Approximately 500 people came to Karen New Year. We were very happy to see all the old and new faces. It was a blessing from God that he brought us all together during this time.

So first of all, I would like to start with the food.

And uhmmm!! I wouldn't want to miss the food that was served on the tables!! The food were Super GOOOD!...So thank you for those of you who brought us all the delicious Karen food. Yummy Yummy!!

At about 3 pm. We started the Karen New Year's performance.

Some of the performances were DONE dancing which was in the green/red costumes. The participants were from Daly City and Oakland.We practiced the dance every Saturday and Sunday at OBMBC. We give thanks to God for letting us practice in his house.

Another dance was the bamboo dance which was performed by Karen Daly City youth and Karen Oakland youth. This dance was actually last minutes dance, but we pulled it through by God's will.

There were many more dances and performances such as acting, cultural dancing, singing, etc.

Thank you First Burmese Baptist Church for bringing so many performances. It was very amusing to the guests.

Thank you for all the participants and the guests that came to Karen New Year and let's give thanks to God for guiding each and everyone of us to this new year.

Youth Fellowship

This week at Youth Fellowship, we discussed our plans for 2008. We have many things to look forward to such as camps and dramas. We also created a goal for 2008 and that goal is unity. To worship God together as Christians and not Karen, Burmese and such. To realize that language cannot be a barrier from spreading the love of God. So that even if we cannot understand one another, we know that we are worshiping God. This week we learned that it doesn't matter what your race is or your gender, if you're rich or poor, tall or short. You can still worship God and God will always loves us, no matter what.

Happy New Years!

To celebrate the New Years, we went to Bakersfield to visit our relatives. We stopped at Fresno and ate and bought stuff at Hmong New Years Festival. It was loud and annoying after hearing an old lady singing everywhere. After sitting in the car for hours we get to our relatives house and for the rest of the day we did nothing. Even worse it was Bakersfield. The town was huge but had nothing in it.

This entire break has been hectic. There's no time to sleep in. It's always going somewhere with my family. After a while it gets irritating, to the point where I'm asking "why are you here?" and saying "leave me alone".

But i realize that these times with my family is precious and when I grow up there won't be many chances to spend time with them. I thank God for these irritating and annoying times with my family because i know that there are many people out there who cannot have time with their family.
