In God's Hands

Photobucket

"It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze."

"You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great. You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn."

VBS Teensletter

VBS 3rd Day

Today we focused on Jesus' death and resurrection, and how a small group of His friends responded. Their eagerness to share the wonderful news of Jesus' resurrection is a example to each of us. We have the same life-changing message to share with those around us, through our words and our actions.

Ask these questions;
  • How do the members of our family communicate with each others?
  • Why is communication so important?
  • How can we communicate to others what Jesus means to us?
  • How is your life different because of Jesus?

We have the same good news to share as the women at Jesus' tomb - Jesus is alive and He waits for us in Heaven. In response to today's lesson, we was challenged to choose a specific was to GO Tell! Discuss this commitment and, if necessary, help your family and friends carry it out!

Dear Xodusxteen,

I remember I lost my best friend when I shared about my faith. I was in your age back then ... I was in shook, and hurt by losing our friendship such a way. I quickly learned some secrets aren't supposed to be shared. I also learned to mingled around perfectly with non believer friends. It took many years to start sharing my faith with my friends again. Only my regret is those years I stooped sharing about Jesus ...specially to my best friend ...

I'm so glad these women didn't keep this good news secret because this news changed the world forever. The news that Jesus is no longer in the grave and that He's alive means that everyone can have the hope of eternal life through Him.

Have you shared this news with your friends, and family? Go for it! This news was not meant to be kept secret. Please don't give up ... and don't stop sharing! I did once ... and now I won't!

Can you keep this secret? I hope you not.

VBS 2nd day

Today we learned about a young queen in a precarious position. When Esther learned of a plot to kill her and the rest of the Jewish people, she had a important decision to make. Esther saw the opportunity she'd been given and was willing to risk her own life to save others. God blessed Esther's courage, and He will bless ours.

Ask these questions;
  • What does it mean to take a risk?
  • How do you decide what risks you are willing to take?
  • Why was Esther willing to risk her life to save her people?
  • What risks are you willing to take for God?

Learning to take the right kinds of risks is very important in our modern, messy world. In response to today's lesson, we were challenged to choose a specific way to GO Risk! Discuss this commitment and, if necessary, help your family and friends carry it out.

Dear Xodusxteen,

We had a good conversation over this topic. I remember many of you were sharing how she and he took a risk to join VBS. And how the fruits of her and his selfishlees choice were impact others life still moves me ....

God is good, but He is not safe, so we are mistaken when we believe that dwelling in the center of His will for our lives will be without risk. In fact, based on what we observe in the lives of our faithful predecessors - like Esther - the close we draw to God, the more "at risk" we may find ourselves.

When was the last time you risked something for God? This world will be changed when Christians decide to stop laying it safe and go risk it all to do what God want us to do. So go for it!

VBS 1st Day

Today we explored the story of Gideon, a reluctant soldier who really didn't want the job God set before him. But because Gideon was willing to lead God's army in spite of his won doubts, God used him to bring about an incredible victory. God blessed Gideon's leadership, and He will bless ours.

Ask these questions to yourself;
  • What do you think makes someone a good leader or a bad leader?
  • What qualities made Gideon a good leader?
  • When it is hard for you to be a leader? why?
  • What things about you make you a good leader?

God give each of us the potential to be a leader for Him. In response to today's lesson, we were challenged to choose a specific way to GO Lead! Discuss this commitment and, if necessary, help your family and friends carry it out. Offer encouragement, support, and enthusiasm. Or go one step further and find a way for your family to lead together. Use this time to strengthen the special bonds within your family or friends as you serve God together.

Dear Xodusxteens,

Thank you for standing right beside me and showing such leadership during VBS. You touched me many ways ... you really stood up for Him and took responsible. I found your trust and hope that moves my doubts and fears away. So go for it! If you sense that God is calling you to do something extraordinary for him, but you're having a hard time seeing substance in the scribbles. You will see His drawing that will eventually make perfect sense. I did.

Call Upon His Name

Hopefully Part 1 of 3:

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Romans 10:13

A very simple and straight forward verse. It is through accepting Jesus Christ and calling his name, we are saved. Jesus' name is called in many ways and many different languages.

Dutch: Jezus
Hebrew: Yeshua
Gaelic: Iesu
Welch: Iosa
Haitian: Jezi
Arabic: Isa
Zulu: Gee-soo
Burmese: ye-shoo :D
Estonian: Jee-sus
Italian: Gesù
Spanish: Jesús
Romanian: Isus
Croatian: Isusu
Czech: Arcangelcaido
Polish: Jezus
Finnish: Jumala
Fijian: Jisu (Chi-Sue)

But, though we can call on Jesus' name in any language it is the manner of which we do it that really matters. Are you calling on Jesus' name spiritually or just physically?

Glory to Him

As Christians, glorifying God comes easy to us at church. We can easily sing along to praise songs and reach aloud the scripture. It is because we are around our fellow Christian brothers and sisters that we are comfortable to do these things. But, what if we were around our non-Christian brothers and sisters? Would we still glorify the Lords name with them around? The bible says to let the light of the Lord shine in you, so that others may see it.

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

We must not be afraid to let the light of God shine in us around non-Believers. Whether we are praying before we eat or reading the bible, do not be afraid to do so. Let others see how great our God is. Do good and be an example, not only to non-Believers but to other Christians. In everything you do, let your light shine and let it glorify God.

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31

Yourself

Throughout our lives, teenagers and adults, we will be pressured by our peers to conform to their lifestyles. There is especially a lot of pressure on teenagers. We go to school and want to fit in and get along with others, and to obtain that we change ourselves. We do what others tell us and do not act as ourselves. We wear what others wear and do as others do. But, God wants us to be ourselves and wants us to be what he created. Be yourself, do not be afraid, it matters not what others think of you, because we are already accepted in Gods eyes. He loves us unconditionally.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good.
His love endures forever.

Psalm 136:1

We are made in God's image. God is the potter and we are clay. We are all equal in his eyes. It doesn't matter what you look like or how you act. No matter what, God will always love us. We need not worry what others think of us, because in Gods eyes we are all equal and wonderful.

Yet, O LORD, you are our Father.
We are the clay, you are the potter;
we are all the work of your hand.

Isaiah 64:8

Do not be afraid to be yourself and to praise God. The world may not understand why you choose to be yourself and why you praise God, but God understands, and that is all that matters.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

Psalm 139:14

Alive

Today is the Easter! Jesus Christ is alive and great. He has died for our sins and given us his amazing grace.

"Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

Mark 16:6

Let us praise his name and spread the good news today.

He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

Mark 16:5

To help understand the sacrifice that God made for us, please watch this video. I hope it helps you as much as it helped me.

Good Friday

Today is Good Friday, the day of which Jesus Christ was crucified and died for our sins. Only 5 days ago, on Palm Sunday, was he praised and worshiped. How quickly the people turned against him. This can relate to our own lives, when we are quick to blame God and quick to turn against him. Throughout our lives, we have many difficulties and desires, so we pray to God to help us and give us things, but when he does not answer, we are quick to anger and begin to lose faith. But just because God does not answer every prayer, does not mean that he doesn't love you. God knows whats best for you and has a plan for you. He has something better in store.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

Have faith and do not turn against God when your prayers are not answers. God knows best and has plans to give you something even better. God knows what you want and need and he will provide. He has already provided the greatest gift of all, we are already blessed by his amazing grace.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God

The Law

In the past, I've posted many blogs concerning the law of God. Although, the Law is important, and we should follow it, we cannot obtain our salvation through the law. No matter how good we are, we will never be sinless and because we always sin, we can never fulfill the law.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Romans 3:23

Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Galatians 5:4

Knowing that all men are sinners, God sent his son to die for our sins. And in accepting his amazing grace, we are saved. It is only through Jesus Christ that we have salvation. All you have to do is accept.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

Greed

Our lives in this world can revolve around worldly things. Money, food, clothes, or power, these things can all make us greedy. We as humans only want more and more. We put materials first in our lives, only wanting more. We don't put God first in our lives, but we put money and power instead. Greed and desires should not rule our lives, or be first in our lives. The first place and most important place in our lives is reserved for God. We should not try and replace God's rightful place with something else.

A greedy man brings trouble to his family, but he who
hates bribes will live.

Proverbs 15:27

A greedy man stirs up dissension, but he who trusts in
the LORD will prosper.

Proverbs 28:25

The Lord has giving us many blessings. Let us accept them and do not be greedy. Praise him and thank him for all the blessings and the salvation he has given us. It is very hard to resist greed. Everyday we dream of a new phone or new car. Let us be grateful for the things we have now. We have what we have because God gave them to us. There is a reason He gave these things to us. Use them for his glory.

And when we accept Jesus's amazing grace, all the things and all the power we need is given to us.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things
will be given to you as well.

Jeremiah 17:33
